How to Handle Failre

If you failed an Academic class (English, Math, Science or Social Studies) this school year during first or second semester Credit Recovery is designed to award credit for the failed class. Taking and successfully completing Credit Recovery in a course does not remove the initial failing grade in the course, but it will add a new course to the transcript with a passing grade.

  • If your final grade average was between a 60 and 69 or you are an upcoming senior or you have the recommendation of your original teacher, then you qualify for Credit Recovery with a teacher at HHS.

Credit Recovery will be held June 3-20, Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 to 11:30 at HHS. Students must attend every day and successfully complete all work assigned before credit can be awarded. Students will work with a HHS teacher. If the course requires an End of Course Exam then the student must also take the EOC the week of June 17th-20th.

  • If your final average was below a 60 or you cannot attend all 12 days of the credit recovery sessions in June, then you qualify for Apex Credit Recovery.

Apex Credit Recovery will be held in June and July (see calendar below) with Mr. Chris Hight as the facilitator. Students will be required to attend classroom sessions twice a week at the beginning to check on their progress. The Apex facilitator may reduce attendance requirements if students are working well independently. Students will be awarded credit when they finish the requirements in Apex. Students will complete computer based assignments on-line and can work at home. If the course is an EOC course then the student must also take the EOC in August. Teachers will be available to assist students in Apex classes during regular credit recovery sessions from June 3-20, Monday through Thursday, from 8:30-11:30.
