Summer Reading

HHS Summer Reading Program for Honors English Students

The English Department is excited to announce the summer reading selections for 2019-2020. The summer reading experience is designed to boost student knowledge, fulfill learning goals, and keep minds engaged in intellectual activity. It’s an enriching opportunity for engaged students. Summer reading is required for all Heritage High School students who are taking Honors English, AP Language, or AP Literature.

The National English Honor Society yearly selects one novel as a Common Reader. Their selection this year is A Place for Us by Farheen Mirza. Students who read this novel are given an opportunity to apply for a Merit Scholarship. We have included this novel as a summer reading choice for rising 11th and 12th grade Honors and AP students.
