New Initiatives!

  • Click here for a Google Slide summary and description of the major changes
  • Final exam exemptions are now based on unexcused absences and grade in the course.  Excused absences no longer affect final exam exemptions (see student handbook for more information).
  • There is a new "privilege" system for students (more information coming).
  • To provide collaboration time for teachers, the class schedule for Wednesdays will be modified for the 2018-19 school year.  Student drivers/car riders will be dismissed at 2:29 pm every Wednesday beginning August 15, 2018.  Since buses will run on the normal schedule, students who ride buses will remain at school in study hall until 3:25 pm.  These study halls will provide students the opportunity to complete their homework assignments before leaving school with the assistance of HHS staff members.  Additionally on Wednesdays between 2:29 pm and 3:25 pm Career Clubs (FFA, FCCLA, HOSA, FBLA, and SkillsUSA) will meet, the jazz band will practice, the chamber choir will practice, and there will be a Wednesday detention which students may be assigned for disciplinary purposes.  A "Test Center" will be established for students who need to re-take a test and it will be open on Wednesdays from 2:29 pm - 3:25 pm.  Students will need to make arrangements with their classroom teacher to schedule retakes in the Test Center.
  • There will be an informaitonal meeting and question/answer session regarding these new initiatives during Open House on Monday, August 6th at 7:30 pm in the theater.
  • There have been some changes to our attendance procedures this year.  Parents will be able to check out their child through email for EXCUSED reason (doctor's appointments, dentist appointments, etc.).  Please lit the reason for the check out, the time for check out, student name and parent name.  Send emails to Cynthia Davis (  Parent notes will be accepted (and we will call to verify) for EXCUSED check outs only.  Parents will have to check students out in person for unexcused absences.
