Generals Baseball Advances to STATE Final Four!

Elite 8 Round:

The Generals swept Hardaway in a double header on May 10th to advance to the Final Four of the STATE AAAA Playoffs.  Heritage will face Blessed Trininty on May 17 for a best of 3 series.

Game 1:  Cole Wilcox pitched a complete game for the 5-2 win over Hardaway.  Johnny Hickman with a solo homerun.  

Game 2:  Alex Barbee pitched a complete game for a 6-3 victory over Hardaway.  Cole Wilcox had a 2 run homerun in the 1st inning.  In the 5th inning, Corbee Wilson scored from 3rd on a single by Joseph Hill and then Cole Wilcox bounced one over the fence for a ground rule double scoring another run.  Josh Gibson had a sac fly to score the 5th run, putting the Generals up 5-3 in the 5th inning.  Heritage struck again in the 6th inning with Coulter's 2 out double was followed by a double by Dockery, allowing courtsey runner Wilson to score the 6th and final run of the game.

Sweet Sixteen Round:

The Heritage High Baseball Team defeated Woodward Academy in a 3 games series to advance to the STATE Elite Eight!  The Generals will host Hardaway on May 10th and 11th.

After falling to Woodward 5-4 in game 1 the Generals won the next two games.

Game 2:

The Generals got off to a fast start and defeated Woodward Academy 12-7.  Alex Barbee earned the win for HHS, pitching 6 and 1/3 innings, giving up 7 runs, 13 hits and striking out 6.  Home runs for HHS came when Josh Gibson homered in the 4th and Lance Docery in the 6th.  Johnathan Hickman, Alex Coulter, Luke Grand and Blake Bryan each collected multiple hits for the Generals.  Gibson, Hickman and Dockery each drove in two runs.

 

Game 3:

Heritage overcame a 6 run 1st inning deficit to propel them on to the 9 inning win in the deciding game 3 at Woodward Academy.  Final score was 19-18.  With the Generals trailing 12-9 in the bottom of the 6th, Cole Wilcox connected for a 3 run HR which tied the game at 12-12 heading into the 7th.  Unfortunately, Woodward Academy would go on to plate 6 runs taking an 18-12 lead.  Following a couple of batted in runs, Josh Gibson hit a grand slam to tie the game at 18-18.  In the bottom of the 9th with the game tied, Brody Campbell hit a double.  Corbee Wilson was sent in to pinch run for Brody.  Corbee stole 3rd base and two pitches later Corbee stole home on a passed ball giving the Generals the win!
